Visão Geral

Ingride Gaspar is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra. Her currently field of interest is the study of emotions by a deep analysis of behavioral responses, circuitry alterations and synaptic functional modifications. Ingride Gaspar did her Master's Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Coimbra. Her thesis work focused on the "Impact of chronic stress on A2AR control of amygdala function". In this project, she demonstrated the chronic activation of OptoA2A receptors by optogenetic manipulation mimics the effects of chronic stress in BLA glutamatergic neurons' morphology by leading to an increase in the size and complexity of their dendritic arborization. Later on, Ingride did her PhD in the National Program in Theoretical and Applied Neuroscience at the University of Camerino and University of Naples "Federico II". The work focused on 1) the functional characterization of a recurrent de novo KCNQ2 variant (A265V) identified in a proband with neonatal-onset DEE; through electrophyisiology recordings; 2) the analgesic and pain preventative effects of a novel retigabine analogue in behavioral and molecular changes caused by oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy using pain-correlated behavioral test and wet lab techniques; and in nociceptive and non-nociceptive spinal reflexes by electrophysiology. Ingride published 3 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has done several poster and oral presentation at national seminars and international conferences including FENS Forum and SINS. During her PhD she supervised Master's students as well as research fellows, some of which, that have followed the academic path by persuing a doctoral degree.
