I am a bioinformatician and systems biologist with over 20 years of international research experience. I obtained a PhD in Information Science at University of Otago in Dunedin (New Zealand) and have worked in leading positions for over 15 years in the academic and entrepreneurial sector in New Zealand, Germany, Portugal and UK. Currently, I am principal investigator at the Centre for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology at the University of Coimbra (CIBB) and serve as Honorary Professor at the University of Plymouth (UK). My work has included development of methodologies and resources, applied bioinformatics as well as in translational and interdisciplinary research. Area of expertise comprise genomics, transcriptomics & multi-omics approaches, analysis of NGS data and other high-throughput data as well as network-oriented investigations of human diseases and developmental processes.
