Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Microbiology and Parasitology specialty, University of Coimbra. Is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra (FFUC). Her research is focused in infections with Giardia lamblia (giardiasis) and Leishmania sp. (leishmaniasis) evaluating the impact of genetic variability of parasite isolates in host-parasite interaction and in the discovery of new antiprotozoal drugs. Supervise/d more than 100 Post-Doc, Doctoral thesis and Master thesis on the area of microbiology and parasitology. Published 49 peer reviewed papers. She is/was PI/coordinator of 10 funded projects and participate as investigator in 4 ongoing research projects. Participated in more than 100 academic juries of PhD thesis (including European PhDs), master's thesis, curricular units of doctoral programs, and curricular internships. Reviewer of International Projects, National projects and papers for 40 indexed journals. Organized International Congress, National Congresses, Workshops and Advanced Courses. Published 10 new nucleotide sequence of Giardia lamblia in National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
