O nosso grupo de investigação desenvolveu abordagens avançadas de espetrometria de massa para serem utilizadas em múltiplas questões biomédicas. As abordagens vão desde a quantificação de pequenas moléculas, como neurotransmissores e metabolitos, até à caraterização do proteoma, identificação de modificações pós-tradução e análise de proteínas intactas para identificar proteoformas. As questões têm-se centrado principalmente na compreensão dos mecanismos da biologia celular através de análises interacadémicas ou proteómicas; na identificação de biomarcadores de doenças diretamente a partir de amostras humanas ou através de abordagens de investigação translacional; na elucidação da modulação cerebral da terapia psicotrópica a longo prazo; e na identificação e quantificação de fármacos e metabolitos na saúde e na doença.
