The next Conversa Improvável (Improbable Conversation), dedicated to the theme "Living with asthma without limitations", in commemoration of World Asthma Day, will take place on May 2, from 12pm to 1pm, at the UC Exploratório Ciência Viva Coimbra, in the UC space where the "viral" exhibition is located. The talk will feature Dr. Maria Teresa Cruz, from Faculdade de Farmácia, Dr. Ricardo Almendra, from the Faculdade de Letras, and Dr. Mário Morais de Almeida, an immunoallergologist and president of the Associação Portuguesa de Asmáticos (APA). There will be live illustration by Rui Tavares (comic book artist). The cultural moment will be hosted by Anna Beatryz Hernandes (Physics student at the University of Coimbra) from the EDAC - Escola de Dança Arte e Corpo dance school.

Asthma is an underdiagnosed and undertreated disease that affects around 700,000 Portuguese (6.8% of the population), 175,000 of whom are children and adolescents (8.4% of children). Around half of asthma patients in Portugal do not have their asthma under control. At this event we will learn about the factors, symptoms and risks of asthma, as well as understanding the influence of the places where we live on our quality of life. These are just some of the topics that will be covered. The event is in portuguese, open to the whole community and admission is free.
