To celebrate World Sleep Day on March 14, the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra (CNC-UC) is joining forces with the Associação Portuguesa do Sono (APS) (Portuguese Sleep Association) to support the World Sleep Day campaign, this year under the motto “Make sleep health a priority”, reinforcing the importance of sleep for health and well-being.

Among the initiatives scheduled for this day is the launch of the book “Uma Viagem Ilustrada ao Mundo do Sono - desenhos e quadras de jovens artistas sobre a importância do sono”, a collective work created by 89 children and teenagers, from primary to secondary school. In Lisbon, the launch will take place at the CIUL Auditorium (Centro de Informação Urbana de Lisboa) at 3pm, while in Porto it will take place at Casa do Infante at 2.30pm.

On March 14, an anthem dedicated to the importance of prioritizing sleep will also be presented, performed by musician João Leiria. The song will be promoted on APS social media, reinforcing the message about the benefits of quality sleep. In addition, APS's social networks will also provide informative content, including tips, infographics and other relevant information, with the aim of raising public awareness and promoting greater literacy about the importance of sleep.

As part of this day, educational sessions will also be held in schools and science centers with the participation of CNC-UC scientists.
