CNC-UC and CiBB researcher Carlos B. Duarte, leader of the Neuronal Signaling research group, has been appointed president of the European Society for Neurochemistry (ESN).
Carlos B. Duarte was elected for the 2025–2027 term. Prior to the election, held in April 2025, he served as treasurer of the ESN (2023–2025).
For the researcher, this appointment represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the ESN's mission, which is closely aligned with that of the CNC-UC, and which aims to foster scientific excellence in the field of neurochemistry, promote international collaboration, and support the development of new generations of researchers.
The ESN is a European scientific society dedicated to promoting neurochemistry for the benefit of society, developing the discipline in Europe, and supporting the training and work of young neurochemists.
Emanuel Tahiri, a CNC-UC student of the Doctoral Program in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB), joins the council as chair of the ESN Young Scientist Steering Committee (YSSC-ESN).
