CNC has assembled a team of about 40 researchers to participate in the European Marathon in Aveiro.

On April 24, CNC researchers, in collaboration with the Portuguese Multiple Sclerosis Society, run this marathon in the different modalities offered by the event. The challenge was created and carried out by CNC researcher Carlos Duarte, who leads the Neurotrophin Signaling and Synaptic (Dys)Function group, and also had the support of MERCK.

In addition to the physical challenge as a team, the initiative aimed to raise funds to benefit SPEM and raise awareness of multiple sclerosis, a chronic, inflammatory and degenerative disease that affects the central nervous system. In Portugal, it is estimated that more than 8,000 people suffer from this disease.
