Overview

Lisa Catarina Oliveira Rodrigues is a Junior Researcher at the Center for Neurosciences and Cell Biology - Coimbra, since February 2019, under the scope of the CEEC 2017 program (CEECIND/03530/2017). Lisa obtained her PhD - Doctoral Programme in Health Sciences, field of Biomedical Sciences - in 2016 at the University of Coimbra, Faculty of Medicine. She had concluded a MSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2009 and a Degree in Biology, Scientific field in 2008 at the University of Coimbra, Faculty of Sciences and Technology. She has been working in the field of Microbiology and Infection, with research experience abroad, and with emphasis in host-pathogen interactions and particularly devoted to: 1) Adenosine A2A receptors and purinergic metabolism modulatory role in infection: - in vitro adenosine A2A receptors immune anti-inflammatory activity in cellular models of infection; - modulation of microbiota/ microbial populations, in vivo, in particular bacteria and yeasts of the genus Candida, by the adenosine A2A receptors. 2) Ageing, opportunistic infections and chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Lisa is also interested in the study of nutrition and microbiota (role of caffeine intake in infection) and of protein trafficking related to facultative intracellular microbes. She published 18 papers in international journals, 1 as senior author, and 2 being currently prepared for publication. She had mentored and co-mentored multiple degree and master students, with 1 current PhD mentoring, with participation in academic juris and periodic collaboration in teaching activities. She participated in several national and international scientific events, with 2 awarded prizes, and had enrolled in several initiatives of science communication. Lisa is currently associated to 3 funded research projects, being co-PI of one of them.
