Oliveira do Bairro Science Festival (FeCiOB) is an initiative of Oliveira do Bairro Minicipality and the Citizenship and Education Institute (IEC) with the collaboration of schools, municipalities, companies, associations, Science centres and research institutions, such as CNC. This festival, open to the general public, aims to foster the communication between different Science fields and their applications, allowing the involvement of Science in areas such as Education, Health and Environment.
FeCiOB emerged after the Oliveira do Bairro Municipality was awarded as European Municipality of Science Culture in 2014, by the European Project PLACES. This award was a result of the scientific experimental education carried in the municipality, at schools and IEC, in close collaboration with Universities of Coimbra and Aveiro and research institutes.
