Ana Raquel Esteves, a researcher in the Gut-Brain Axis group at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology of the University of Coimbra (CNC-UC), has been awarded the 2025 ESCI Young Investigator Clinical Award. The prize was presented by Carlos Zaragoza, Councillor of the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI), during the 58th Annual Scientific Meeting held in Genoa, Italy, from May 21 to 23, 2025.

This esteemed recognition highlights her exceptional contributions to clinically oriented biomedical science in Europe. The award includes a €1000 prize along with full sponsorship to attend the ESCI Annual Scientific Meeting.

The ESCI Young Investigator Awards honour promising early-career researchers making significant advances in basic, translational, or clinical biomedical research across Europe.
