Laura Maria Alcântara completed the Ph.D from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP, in 2017. The main research developed by L. M. Alcântara is in the fields of Microbiology and Parasitology. Her main activities have been focused on the establishment of in vitro infection models based on high-content assays, performing large-scale screenings with libraries of compounds/natural products and performing drug combination/repurposing assays. L. M. Alcântara is currently working as a MSCA Postdoctoral researcher (Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellowship), at the RNA & Infection laboratory (CNC/CIBB, University of Coimbra), under the supervision of Dr. Ana Eulalio. Her studies are focused on functional screening and host-pathogen interactions, particularly in infection with Staphylococcus aureus.
