The CiBB – Center for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology, the R&D unit of the University of Coimbra that brings together the CNC-UC, iCBR-FMUC, MIA-Portugal, and GeneT, is once again promoting this initiative with a range of activities:

Opening session of Brain Awareness Week in Portugal - The CNC-UC joins forces with the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience (SPN) to mark the opening of this week in Portugal.

Neuroscientists go to schools – promotion of lectures, debates, visits, games, and hands-on activities in schools, from preschool to senior universities, throughout the month of March;

Human Library – a science communication initiative that promotes informal meetings between the public and researchers in the field of neuroscience, who share their personal and scientific journeys, challenges, and motivations through open conversations with the community - March 12, 2026, 5:00–6:00 p.m., Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra.

Brain Awareness Week is an international initiative promoted annually by the Dana Foundation and the European Federation of Neuroscience Societies. In Portugal, it is promoted by the Portuguese Society for Neuroscience and Ciência Viva and has been supported by CiBB for several years.
