Cristina Márquez, a researcher at CNC-UC and CiBB, is the incoming president of EBBS—the European Brain and Behavior Society. Márquez will serve as president for 2027–2029.

Held during spring, the election makes Cristina Márquez president-elect of EBBS, a role that the researcher undertakes from July 13, during the next General Assembly meeting of the society. Márquez will take the presidency (as the coordinator of this scientific society, with executive responsibilities) during the 52nd EBBS Meeting in Dublin, next year.

Cristina Márquez is the DYNABrain ERA Chair holder, and principal investigator at CNC-UC and CiBB, where she leads the research group Neural Circuits of Social Behavior.

For this election, Cristina Márquez received the support of Alex Easton (outgoing president of the EBBS) and Ewelina Knapska (former president of the EBBS).

Arnau Busquets-Garcia (researcher at Hospital del Mar-Parc de Salut MAR, Spain) was also elected as ordinary member and will join the society’s executive committee.

Founded in 1968, the EBBS is the oldest European society dedicated to the study of the relationship between brain mechanisms and human and animal behavior.
